					<description><![CDATA[<p>We are very lucky to have Professor Tracy Smart AO, Air Vice-Marshal (ret.) joining our CEO Alex Gerrick for our next FREE Community Webinar &#8211; Growth and resilience through trauma. About Professor Smart: Professor Tracy Smart AO, Air Vice-Marshal (ret.) BMBS, MPH, MA, Dip AvMed, FRACMA, FACAsM, FAsMA, FCDSS, FACHSM (Hon)   Prof Smart is a physician, health leader, aerospace medicine specialist, and retired Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) senior officer. During 35 years of RAAF service, Prof Smart served on overseas deployments; undertook exchange tours with the Royal Air Force and the United States Air Force; was twice Commanding Office of the RAAF’s Institute of Aviation Medicine; and served as Surgeon General of the ADF and Commander Joint Health from 2015 to 2019. She transferred to the RAAF Reserves in early 2020. Prof Smart is currently Professor, Military and Aerospace Medicine at the Australian National University (ANU), and a Mission Specialist in Space Medicine at the University’s Institute for Space. She was also ANU’s COVID-19 Public Health Lead from August 2020 to March 2022. In addition, Prof Smart is: President, Australasian College of Aerospace Medicine; Honorary Professorial Fellow, University of Melbourne; Strategic Advisor – LGBTI Inclusion, Department of Defence; and a member of several Boards and committees including the: Defence Honours and Awards Appeals Tribunal; ANU National Security College Advisory Board; Australian Football League’s Mental Health Steering Group; Australian Space Agency’s Technical Advisory Group on Space Medicine &#38; Life Sciences; Australian War Memorial Development Project Veterans’ Advisory Group; Australian Institute of Health and Welfare Veteran’s Advisory Group; and Health Security Systems Australia’s Divisional Advisory Panel.</p>

		<title>Never judge a book by its cover- the good, bad and the ugly of living with PTSD</title>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>Fearless Ambassador Grant Edwards will join our CEO Alex Gerrick in conversation for a FREE webinar for our community. Grant and Alex will discuss the good, the bad and the ugly of living with PTSD. About Grant: In 2019 Grant retired from the Australian Federal Police after 34 years dedicated service. He has enjoyed a very diverse career working in fields such as family law, international drug trafficking, Intelligence, major organised crime, Cyber Crime and people smuggling, human trafficking and child exploitation. He has held position as Commander AFP member responsible for the Timor-Leste Police Development Program (TLPDP) as well as the Advisor to the Secretary of State for Security within the Government of Timor Leste. He has also deployed as Commander Afghanistan Mission oversighting the AFP’s contribution to rebuilding the Afghan Police as well as Deputy Head of the International Police Coordination Board, Afghanistan. Grant also spent a total of seven years based in the USA, most recently in Washington DC as AFP’s most senior officer in the Americas responsible for all law enforcement engagement with Canada, USA, Mexico, Central and South America. Grant holds a master’s degree in leadership, policy and governance studies through Charles Sturt University, a Bachelor of Arts (Australian National University) and is a graduate of the FBI Law Enforcement Senior Executive Program. Grant is also an accomplished sportsperson having represented Australia in Athletics, Bobsleigh and Scottish Highland Games. He has competed across the world in Strongman events, including the 1999 Worlds Strongest Man competition in Malta. He is well known for physically pulling steam trains; planes, boats and trucks, culminating in a Guinness World Record for single handedly pulling a 201 tonne steam locomotive. In 2017 and in 2017 pulled a 178 tonne C-17 US Military Globemaster at Dover Airforce Base to raise awareness for mental health. His personal lived experience with PTSD was shown on the ABC’s Australian Story in 2017 and he now presents across the world on his mental health experience. In 2019 he published his memoir titled “The Strongman”.</p>
