Paul, a retired Northern Territory Police Sergeant with 14 years of dedicated service, boasts a diverse career in frontline policing, remote Indigenous community policing, and criminal investigations. Currently pursuing a master’s degree in counseling with the University of Canberra and studying mental health and neuroscience with the University of the Sunshine Coast, Paul holds diplomas in leadership and management, government investigations, security risk management, and public safety policing.
Following his departure from the Police Force in 2017, Paul emerged as one of LinkedIn’s Top Voices in 2022 for his remarkable work in mental health advocacy. Battling PTSD during his policing tenure, he advocates tirelessly for mental health awareness and inclusivity. Paul represents Lived Experience Australia at the Defence Royal Commission into Veteran Suicide and serves on the Mental Health Australia selection panel, shaping the National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Agreement. He also contributes to the Beyond Blue Ambassadors Speaker program, sharing his journey to promote mental health improvement.
Currently serving as a board director for several national not-for-profit organizations, Paul is a driving force behind the National heart2heart walk, launched at Parliament House in Canberra in February 2023. Taking a strategic role within the board, he ensures strong foundations for future success through robust governance and effective policies.
Paul’s leadership style, marked by effective communication, empathy, and relationship-building, has earned him appointments to the Suicide Prevention Australia state committee and the CEO position at Fearless in 2024. With extensive experience in collaborating with Aboriginal communities and diverse groups across Australia, Paul is dedicated to fostering cultural sensitivity and driving social change.
